Designing a sign: not just looks, but communication
A sign must be easy to read, recognisable and consistent with the company image, so that it conveys professionalism and makes the business instantly identifiable. During design we assess size, position, visibility, colours, materials, lighting and the regulations for installation. All of these help create a sign that is visible both day and night and fits properly with the building.
Types of business sign
There are several types of sign, chosen according to visibility, position and type of business.
- Built-up letters – illuminated or non-illuminated three-dimensional letters, modern and elegant, widely used for shops and companies.
- Lightbox – a sign with a panel lit from inside, highly visible even at night, one of the most common.
- Acrylic/Dibond signs – elegant non-illuminated signs, often used for offices, practices and company plaques.
- Projecting signs – installed at right angles to the wall, ideal for being seen along the street or from the pavement.
- Advertising totems – free-standing vertical structures, used at the entrance to companies, car parks or industrial estates.
That’s why design is such an important stage: it lets you get a sign that isn’t just beautiful, but also effective for your business’s visibility.
Installing the sign
Installation is a very important stage and must be carried out safely and in compliance with regulations. During installation we carry out:
- fixing to the wall or structure
- electrical connection
- lighting check
- alignment and levelling
- any sealing required
- final testing
In many cases you need (in Italy):
- a municipal permit
- landscape authorisation
- notice of start of works
- certification of the electrical installation
Producing a sign isn’t just printing or fitting: it’s a complete process that includes design, production and installation. A well-made sign improves your company’s image, increases visibility and is an investment that lasts.
Choosing the right type of sign and relying on professionals means having a sign that is beautiful, visible, durable and compliant, able to show your business at its best.
